French Bulldog Breed Information
French Bulldog History
The French Bulldog was first found in England as the smaller version of the English Bulldog. During the 1860s French Bulldog breeders bred this small English Bulldog breed with the French Terrier, and thus created the breed we know now as the French Bulldog. Many people believe that the breed was also mixed with the Pug and Boston Terriers to stamp the smash face look from the Pug as well as the trademark upright standing mouse ears of the French Bulldog breed of today. Many people admired these little dogs and the breed then quickly caught on. The French Bulldog was brought back to England to be shown. Many of the English were upset due to the naming "French" since the breed was originally bred from original the English Bulldog. Nevertheless the breed continued with the "French Bulldog" name and quickly became a very successful small bred and is now thriving more than ever as they grow in popularity. The "Blue French Bulldog" later was born as more breeders were introduced to the breed that did not agree with the practice of culling the dogs born in a litter that did not hold up to the standard. The breed standard states that exotic colors such as blue, chocolate, tan points or lilac French bulldogs are a disqualification in the show ring. This caused breeders to eliminate them from the gene pool by breeding away from those genes. This made the exotic color that more rare and valuable. We now know and understand that exotic colors in now way are a disability or a weakness in the immune system of any dog. In fact it has been proven that the coloration or mutation of a particular gene will only affect the coat, nose and eye color of the dog.

French Bulldog's Appearance
The Blue French Bulldog is known as a very study little dog with similar characteristics to that of the English Bulldog, with the same large flat muzzle and pug like nose. The Blue French Bulldog carries very large erect ears. The features on the bulldog are not as large as the English Bulldog but look very much the same. The Frenchie has a soft easy to care coat that comes in various Blue French Bulldog colors such as brindle, fawn, and white. The skin is soft and loose like that of the English variety. The eyes are round and dark colored, and the bite is undershot. The French Bulldog has a tail that can be either straight or cork screwed.
French Bulldogs' Temperament
The French Bulldog is known to be a sweet loving companion dog. They are very affectionate and fairly easy to care for. This breed is known for its fun loving personality and is often seen as a comical dog. They love to have your undivided attention. They are very smart and known to be easy going. The Blue French Bulldog needs to have companionship so this breed would work well for a family or individual who is seeking a friend. Blue Frenchies are very laid back when it comes to strangers and other animals as well. They are not seen as good guard dogs. They love children and will play well with other dogs. On occasion the males can be a bit aggressive with other males but mainly will behave just fine. They are very willful which can make training a bit difficult, so the new owner must be patient with training. Frenchies are known to be very clean and loving companion dogs. They are not yappy, and are quite considerate of little children, as long as the child is taught how to behave around the dog. Click here for more History of the French Bulldog Breed.
Blue French Bulldog Breeders
When in search for blue French Bulldog puppies for sale there are certain things to look out for. One of the most important things to look for in the blue French Bulldog pups is that they look visibly healthy. We understand that when having a French Bulldog puppy shipped to you, you are limited to seeing the Frenchie puppy in pictures sent to you only. Although it's not the only thing to go by, it's very easy to see if the blue French Bulldog puppies are not well taken care off by seeing dirty pups, unsanitary backgrounds, skinny and undernourished looking pups, teary eyes or runny noses and overly dull coats. These are just some of the things that may be noticed visibly in a picture but certainly there are more. Your blue French Bulldog puppy should appear bright eyed and bushy tailed, with a nice thick body and some wrinkles here and there. Your blue French Bulldog breeder should be comfortable answering any questions regarding the frenchie pup's lineage, conformation & health. Also, the blue French Bulldog breeder you contact should have no problems providing you information about the parents and answering all concerns you may have about the particular pup in the litter and the process to get the pup to you. Here at SilverBlood Frenchies we strive to produce the finest and healthiest high quality blue French Bulldog puppies in the nation. We take pride in our frenchies and want nothing more than for them to go to the right homes who will shower them with love and provide them the specialized individual attention that they deserve.

Our style of Blue Frenchies
Our style and look of our Frenchies that we strive to produce is a short and cobby type of dog, with heavier than average bone and smashed square face. We love to produce wrinkly faced pups with lots of rolls on their face and nose. We have seen many Frenchies who display weak rears and many think this is just part of the standard of the French bulldog but not so. Sure, bulldogs in general tend to have a weaker and not fully muscled rear and that is due to the fact English Bulldogs are not working dogs and not very sporty and active as Frenchies can be. They have a much smaller body frame and therefore are able to and do have bursts of energy and move quite fast and agile. This is why we feel they should have a solid and muscle rear and hind legs to help propel them better as the jump and run. We also like a nicely rounded and thick body with a wide rib cage. We like our frenchies to have some spread to their chest. In general we like a bully looking blue frenchie with plenty of substance, muscle and girth. Our french bulldogs display heavy bones also which help them in their posture and skeletal health and to avoid bone breakage and injuries such as fractures. Plainly put our blue french bulldogs are sturdy animals which can handle most any type of activity. Obviously they are not meant to be constantly in motion or in hot temperatures for an extended period due to the fact that they are Brachycephalic (extremely snub nosed) dogs, but these little guys are way more agile than people give them credit for.
Colors of French Bulldogs we sell and produce
